Overview
This project envisions a speculative future where advertisements dominate every aspect of life, turning viewer attention into currency. Art is no longer a medium of expression but a tool for corporate dominance, repurposed for invasive advertising in personal and cultural spaces. Built using the P5.js library, a physical microphone, and an external camera, the project critiques the commercialization of artistic expression.
Concept
Our project is an interactive art installation at Georgia Tech's Price Gilbert Library. It features a moving field of flowers, with three central flowers that glow and bloom in response to live audio input. The main flower emits pollen particles that grow larger with surrounding sound. As viewers approach to admire the visuals, the display briefly interrupts with an ad, creating a “push-pull” effect. This interaction invites reflection on the presence of commercial interruptions in daily life.
Demo
Our installation was set up in the IMZ Media space and remained live for about a week. Students passing by interacted with it and shared incredible reactions. Many stayed to record the installation, eager to share the experience with others.
